Ribbed Hat
Pattern By: Amanda Melton
09/28/11 – 10/01/11
This hat was born from the desire to make a more elegantly ribbed hat. I found a picture of a hat that I liked, but the links to the free pattern were broken. So, over the course of 4 nights (I have a 3 year old and 13 month old) I worked this up and wrote the pattern as I went. At this point, I have not tested the pattern to be sure it is error-free.
Description:
The pattern is written for an adult (22”) and covers the ears and to the nape of the neck. The crown is flat rather than peaked. There is a 6 stitch pattern that makes up the ribbing using front- and back-post double crochet. This means that if you wish to adjust the size of the hat, the final row of Double Crochet must be a multiple of 6 (see reference list after instructions)! The brim is turned up and tacked, but this is not necessary if you desire a longer hat. When finished, the brim can be embellished with 1” buttons or pom-poms to cover the three places it is tacked.

Embellishment-At places brim is tacked, sew 1” button of contrasting or same color –or– attach 1” pom-pom with ends of yarn frayed.

I just found this pattern on ravelry. I just finished with a scarf and was looking up for a hat that matches it, To my surprise your hat is even the same color I used for the scarf.
ReplyDeleteThank you for making the pattern available. I'll make sure to link back to this when I update my blog and ravelry. :)
Thank you! I hope that you enjoy the hat when you get it done. I would love to see pictures and know how it turns out. :)
